Perspectives on Love
A special Shared Reading short course focused on literature that explores love and relationships.
Course Description
Are you in need of some new inspiration? Are you feeling a bit low? How about a dose of hope? Something to get you seeing, thinking, and feeling differently? Our new ‘Life, the Universe and Stories’ short courses might be just what the doctor ordered! PERSPECTIVES ON LOVE What is love? Why is it so difficult to be open to it? Why do we struggle in relationships? Explore stories of attachment, love, intimacy and relationships… This live, online short course is a unique blend of relaxation, stimulation, and inspiration. Fun, uplifting, and thought-provoking, each session is designed to engage you in a whole new way. Over four, two-hour, small group sessions, our expert facilitator, Christopher Smith, will guide you through a selection of carefully curated fictional literature by exceptional writers, he will read the stories aloud, and then lead an exploration of ideas, beliefs, feelings, and experiences using the stories as a focus. You will discover there is something magical about this process we call ‘Shared Reading’. It is enjoyable, social and mindful. It is a light-hearted exploration of great literature that often leads to the unearthing of profound self-insight, shared wisdom, and personal growth. The course will be run in a small group online via Zoom, but one of the best things about our Shared Reading approach is that everyone can participate in their own way. You can join in the conversation, make a comment when you feel like it, or just sit back, relax and listen to the stories. After a Shared Reading session participants say they feel better, lighter, freer, more connected with others, and more connected with their authentic selves. Many say it is the highlight of their week, and some say it is the thing that got them through difficult times. Life, the Universe and Stories: Perspectives on Love will explore stories and ideas of attachment, love, intimacy and relationships… What is love? Why is it so difficult to be open to it? Why do we struggle in relationships? We hope you can join us on this literary journey of discovery! "We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time." - T.S Eliot from "Little Gidding" Four Quartets
